Standard tuning
Standard 8-string guitar tuning: a 7-string plus a low F sharp 8th string, another fourth down. Used by metal, jazz and classical guitarists.
Notes: F♯1 B1 E2 A2 D3 G3 B3 E4.
How to tune the 8-string guitar
The 8-string guitar adds two low strings to a regular guitar: the 7th on B (B1) and the 8th on F sharp (F♯1), each a fourth below the next. Tune the top six strings first, then the 7th and finally the 8th, the lowest on the instrument. With notes this low a phone microphone picks up little of the fundamental: plug the guitar into an amp and hold the phone near the speaker, pick the open string firmly and wait half a second for the reading to settle. If the 8th string will not stay in tune, common causes are a short scale, the intonation setup or the wrong string gauge.

Does the tuner work offline?
Yes. After the first visit (or once installed as an app), the pages open without a connection and pitch detection happens on your device.
What are cents?
A cent is one hundredth of a semitone. Up to 5 cents off is barely audible; the needle turns green in that range.
Can I change the reference A?
Yes: the − and + buttons set A4 anywhere from 430 to 450 Hz, to play along with a piano or a recording tuned differently. Your choice is saved.
Does the microphone record what I play?
No. The sound is analysed on the fly, inside the browser, and is never recorded or sent anywhere.
