Speed trainer
A speed trainer is a metronome that raises the tempo by itself: you pick the start BPM, the target, how many BPM it adds each time and every how many bars (or seconds). Each step plays in full, the change always lands on the “1” of the bar and, once it reaches the target, it stays there or loops back to the start.

Counts the time the metronome is playing, on any metronome page. It stays on this device only: nothing is sent anywhere.
How to use it
The “Practice” section opens on “Speed”. Set the start, target, step and how often it changes, then tap “Play”. The display shows the current BPM, the step and how long until the next one. To slow down instead, choose “Slow down” (or a target below the start). The page address keeps your settings, so a shared link opens the same way.

How to build speed without losing accuracy
- Start at a tempo where you play clean and relaxed.
- Go up a little at a time: 2 to 5 BPM is usually enough.
- Missed a step? Go back a few BPM and repeat; playing fast with mistakes turns into a habit too.
- Turn on “Loop from the start” to climb several times: each round, the start feels easier.
Frequently asked questions
How much should I raise the BPM each time?
Small steps, 2 to 5 BPM, give your hands time to settle at each tempo. Bigger steps work for a quick warm-up.
Change by bars or by seconds?
By bars, every step lasts the same amount of music (good for a passage you repeat). By seconds, every step lasts the same clock time. Either way, the change happens on the “1” of the bar, never in the middle.
Can it slow down instead?
Yes: choose “Slow down” or a target below the start. Slowing down trains control at slow tempos, which are often the hardest to hold.
Is my highest BPM saved?
Yes: the practice log keeps the highest BPM that played in the speed trainer, on this device only.
